John Zaritsky

John Zaritsky has been making documentary films for almost 40 years. His films have been honoured with more than 30 major awards, been broadcast in 35 countries, and have screened at more than 40 film festivals around the world, including Sundance, Toronto, Vancouver, IDFA, Hot Docs and SXSW. Among his more notable awards and achievements are: receiving the Academy Award for Best Documentary for “Just Another Missing Kid”, a Cable Ace Award for “Rapists: Can They be Stopped”, an American Bar Association Golden Gavel Award for “My Husband is Going to Kill Me”, a Robert F. Kennedy Foundation Award for “Born in Africa”, and an Alfred Dupont Award from Columbia University’s School of Journalism for “Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo”.

 

In addition to the above, John has been nominated for three Emmy Awards and 15 Gemini Awards, and has won the latter seven times.

His most recent film, “Leave Them Laughing”, won a special jury prize as Best Canadian Documentary at Hot Docs, an audience award for Most Popular Canadian Documentary at the Vancouver International Film Festival, and the Audience Award for Most Popular Documentary at the Mill Valley Film Festival.

Kevin Eastwood

Kevin Eastwood is a Gemini and Leo Award-winning producer. Most recently he executive produced “Crimes of Mike Recket” directed by acclaimed Canadian auteur Bruce Sweeney.

He also produced “Eco-Pirate: The Story of Paul Watson”, a feature documentary about the controversial environmental activist. The film premiered at Hot Docs International Documentary Festival, was released theatrically by eOne Films, and won Best Documentary at the Projecting Change Film Festival.

Prior to that, Kevin co-produced the cult hit zombie comedy, “Fido”, starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Billy Connolly.  The film opened the Toronto International Film Festival, screened at Sundance and was released theatrically by Lionsgate.

He also co-produced the smash hit comedy, “The Delicate Art of Parking”, which was one of the top five highest-grossing English language Canadian films the year it was released.

Among his television credits, Kevin was the Supervising Producer on “Elijah”, the Gemini Award-winning CTV movie about Canadian First Nations leader Elijah Harper; and has directed episodic documentary series for Knowledge Network and Animal Planet.

Ian Kerr CSC

Ian’s work has been recognized by a number of awards including a 2011 Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography, as well as a Gemini, a Canadian Society of Cinematographers award, and multiple Leos. In 2009 he shot “Facing Ali”, the critically acclaimed documentary featuring ten of Muhammad Ali’s former rivals, which was shortlisted for an Academy Award.

 

Ian’s work straddles the gulf between fiction and non-fiction, documentary and drama. His assignments range from meticulously executed commercials to dynamic sixteen-camera unscripted drama projects to month-long polar and mountaineering expeditions.

Mike Grippo CSC

Mike is an Emmy-nominated cinematographer with 30 years of experience shooting documentaries, commercials, dramatic recreations and broadcast television. He has taken part in over 150 documentaries shot on five continents around the world.

 

Recent accolades for films he has shot include the Best Social Documentary Award at Hot Docs 2010 for “In The Name of the Family” and the Donald Britain Gemini Award for Best Social/Political Documentary for Min Sook Lee’s “Tiger Spirit”.

Steven Deneault

Steve Deneault is a multi-award winning cinematographer with numerous documentary and dramatic films under his belt, including the 2011 Leo Award-winning festival favourite “Sunflower Hour”.

Steven has won a Canadian Society of Cinematographers award for the short film “White Grease Paint” and recently finished shooting the martial arts horror feature “Evil Feed”, due in 2013. He hangs his hat in Vancouver.

Tanya is an editor whose credits run the gamut of feature documentaries, documentary series, television and music videos. Her work has aired on CBC, Bravo! Television, Discovery Channel, History Channel, Knowledge Network, W Network, Animal Planet, MuchMusic, Outdoor Life Network and Global Television, and screened at a variety of festivals worldwide including Toronto International Film Festival.

 

 

“Do You Really Want To Know?” is her second film with director John Zaritsky, the first of which was “Wild Horse Redemption” for which she was nominated for a Leo Award.

David F. Ramos

David F. Ramos

David F. Ramos is a Vancouver-based composer of music for film, television and commercial projects. Recent credits include the TV drama “A Killer Among Us” and the documentary “Liberty USA”, Alan Handel’s film about citizens of American towns called Liberty just before the 2008 Presidential election.

David also composed music on John Zaritsky’s previous film “Leave Them Laughing”, a documentary about terminally ill singer/comedienne Carla Zilbersmith, and the SyFy series “Alice”, for which he won a Leo Award for best Musical Score.
